David Mabbott
Architect / Builder
David Mabbott is an architect and builder whose work integrates design, craft, and construction with uncommon continuity. His work spans new construction, adaptive reuse, townhouse renovations, and highly crafted residential interiors. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, he began his career as a furniture maker in Alberta, Colorado, and Chicago, developing a deep material fluency that continues to inform his architectural practice. He received his Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture in 2001, where he was awarded the H.I. Feldman Prize for the best solution to an architectural problem.
After graduating, David joined Peter L. Gluck and Partners as a Project Designer and Construction Manager, working within a design‑build model that shaped his approach to practice. He founded Mabbott Studio Architecture, PLLC in 2005, later partnering with Matt Seidel to form Mabbott Seidel Architecture, PLLC (2012–2025). In parallel, David and Matt operated Mabbott Seidel Build, LLC (2013–2025), a general contracting firm dedicated to delivering their projects with full integration between design and construction.
In 2026, David founded Weatogue Works, LLC to construct the homes he designs in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Splitting his time between New York City and northwest Connecticut, he has developed a strong connection to the region’s landscape and building culture. His work in the forest—removing invasive species, reestablishing native plantings, and engaging directly with the land—has deepened his commitment to architecture that responds to place with clarity and restraint. Weatogue Works was created to bring that sensibility directly into the construction of the homes he designs, grounding his practice in a place he knows well and cares deeply about.
